Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent/Good MS251C-Be is an Excellent/Good saw. Starts easily. Worth the extra $$ for the Easy Start feature. The quick adjust is convenient but the plastic chain/bar retainer cover should be metal. If the chain is loose and slips off the bar, it will sever the bottom peg of the plastic chain/bar retainer cover. It's the right hp and size for cutting fire wood and small trees.. I've had it only a few months and I expect it to last quite sometime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic saw, very easy to start, great power, easy to handle. Just bought my 251 C-BE from Walla Walla Saw and Knife today. They walked me through the safety features of the saw and then went through the starting procedure very thoroughly. Got the saw home, fired up on the 2nd pull (first prime the carb, then 1 pull with full choke, then 1 pull on the start position). I have past shoulder injuries and pulling the start on this saw could not be easier. Pull about 1/4 of the way out and the inertia does the rest. This feature is so worth the slight amount of extra money! I let the saw warm up per the owners manual and went to work. This saw has LOTS of power. If you need more power than this, you are probably a pro logger. Very high build quality. Chain has not stretched yet and is still sharp. I really cannot say enough positive about this high-tech and beautiful saw. If you are thinking about an easy to start and handle saw at a very reasonable price, you won't go wrong purchasing this saw. I fully expect that this is the last chain saw I will ever have to buy. Thank you, Stihl, for such a quality product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to start. My wife and I are getting older and needed a saw she could start. Bought a Stihl with compression release but after 3 trips back to the dealer we could not get it to start. Finally got so mad I put the saw on the dealer's counter and told them tp give it to charity. Went to another dealer and they suggested the MS 251 with easy-to-start technology. I bought it and it has been a gem. Starts easily, cuts smoothly. Would like it better with a 20 inch blade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to start, dies,no power We ve had this saw a little over a year and its been in the shop several times ,60 mile round trip ,when it runs it runs and cuts good but im tired of never knowing when its going to start and run ,its had new carburetor put on and still the same thing What i really like is the excuse that its always bad gas as soon as we walk in the door to have it worked on but yet this is the only saw we have trouble with ,another line im tired of hearing is its got saw dust on it so it must run ,yep it runs if it starts, then it misses out ,dies, lacks power Ive got a poulan over 20 years old that ive never had any trouble with and this stihl cant stay running 20 minutes most days The dealer didnt mind taking my money for the saw but acts mad every time i took it back ,but yet i dont see him coming to pick it up and bring it back Stihl needs to come up with a different way of doing the warranty ,if the dealer doesnt want to work on the stuff then we should be able to take it to another dealer that wants to ,which we were told we could do , just need the warranty card that the original dealer wont give up ,but offers me 1/3 of what we paid for it if i trade it in ,like id really deal with that dealer or stihl againAnother thing about the warranty if it cant be fixed after a couple times stihl should replace it so we dont have to keep wasting time and money running around for the same thing ,my opinion on this saw is it was a complete waste of money and still costing me even under warranty

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MS 251 C-BE Only about 1 hour of run time so far, but multiple start and stops. Started EVERY time without hesitation. 18 inch bar vs 22 inch tree trunk, no contest, chips flying everywhere, firewood stacked. Saw feels great, very little vibrations felt when wearing padded leather gloves. No complaints and several comments from other guys with me. Overall---cant wait to use again soon..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This saw is a powerhouse. I love the ease and power of the saw. The only downside is the weight overall. Starts up quick, cuts like a hot knife through butter. Even though it's expensive it's reliability and performance has been worth it so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chain binds up when cutting when cutting large trees. Disappointed..The Saw is lacking POWER. I believe the toollessadjustment on the side of the saw blinds up the chain after cutting a few hours , lots of smoke from the binding and a large burn mark around the chain sprocket from the binding.,through large Oak trees. plus handle is weak, I cut through a large palm tree and the engine came back to handle and broke the right side and handle fell apart in my hand after having the saw only one and a half months, using the saw daily to remove trees from hurricane Irma daily. Wanting to upgrade to the 271 farm boss.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MS 251 C-BE Bought this saw to replace a 028 Wood Boss. The weight is nice. Easy to remove limbs and branches once you drop your tree. The Power is not so good. It would be nice if stihl had a demo day to try the saws out before buying. I would have definitely bought a more powerful saw. The Fuel economy is also noticeably bad. I'm adding gas way more often than I feel I should be. The "easy start" is weird but once you learn how it works it does the job. So far the "Quick" Chain tensioning system is working well. All in all it's a good saw. Just uses a lot of fuel and is under powered for cutting 16"-20" trees. I would try to sell it and buy a more powerful unit but the White and Orange plastic already stained badly from use and look awful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best chainsaw I have ever owned. Starts easy. Cuts great. Has plenty of safety features. I was tired of saws that would only work for a couple of years and then be a nightmare to rebuild. This saw is a dream to start once you get used to the inertia system.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy2start is junk, if you can't start a saw with a normal starter you should not be running a saw. I bought this saw used from my local Stihl Dealer. When checking out the guy said this is the deluxe model, I thought oh great. I was very wrong. After a few weeks of using it here and there I went to go start it, the way the user manual suggests and the the pull cord went slack. It would not retract and had no tension. I took the Easy2start assembly off and there was a lot of plastic shavings in there, part number 1123 195 2000 had been chewed up by the flywheel. All the parts on the shaft, the one coming off the starter assembly had come off. The small clip had pooped off or failed. After further inspection the bearings in side the spring housing, part number 1123 190 0700, had also failed. I took it to the Stihl dealer and got parts talked to the people at the dealer and fixed it myself. It worked fine for about a month. Then the same thing happened again. I have used the Stihl MS 170 and 039 never had problems with them. I don't recommend the MS250 C-BE/MS251 C-BE, get the MS250. But the saw did have good power, It would be great without the Easy2Start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice saw I have an old Stihl 041 which is a great saw for larger material. I needed a light weight saw for cutting smaller trees and limbs. This is a great lightweight saw that starts easily and cuts well. I cut dead cherry and peach wood which is very hard. I just let the saw do the work and it did a great job. The chain is a piece of cake to adjust. I may be a little concerned that the chain oiler doesn't deliver more oil to the chain, but the chain appears to be operating at a good temperature and the oil reservoir goes down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for what is was designed for! Easy to start and light weight for those of us who have had shoulder surgeries. If you have trouble starting it, READ the instructions or have your dealer explain to you as mine did! Power is good for its size. You can cut down large tress with it like I have but this saw was not necessarily designed for that. Love the easy chain adjustment. Looked at “the competitors” but decided on my first Stihl as tired of throwing out other saws after one or two seasons... Not to mention a local repair shop is available. Even if a little more pricey, been worth it so far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chain adjustment sucks. Saw has enough power and always started good. The chain adjustment bolt stripped out and they want the cost of new saw to fix it. This is the second saw to do this on me. I use only to cut fire wood and don't abuse it. I will not buy another stihl product. Not what they used to be

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong saw that takes care of business! I bought this saw to cut up a pine tree that fell after Hurricane Irma. Gassed it up, adjusted the chain using the quick adjust tool, and went to work. I absolutely love the Easy start system on this machine! It takes almost no effort to pull start it! Just make sure you use either non ethanol gas or premium with your fuel mixture. I've used it randomly for 2 weeks now and am very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to keeping this saw in use for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect trail saw I work with trail crews in the mountains of North Carolina. We use chainsaws constantly for clearing downed trees and removing dangerous trees from trail sites. I've worked with a lot of different saws in the last 8 years or so but for the last 3 years I've been using the 251 CBE exclusively. I got it because it was the best compromise between power and weight since I have to carry the saw up and down mountains for sometimes over 10 miles. A lot of the guys on the crew mocked me a bit at first for getting the easy start model but they don't laugh much any more. This saw has worked perfectly in every season and always starts. I used it yesterday for 10 hours on the trail clearing downed trees left by Irma. By the end of the day I was once again thankful for that easy start along with the fast chain adjustment since I had to change chains twice.I have a feeling that a lot of people who are having problems with this (or any) saw need to pay a bit more attention to basic maintenance. For instance, we only use 93 octane gas with no ethanol. If it's available in your area you should start using it right away. This will solve a lot of basic carburetor problems. Also, learn as much as you can about sharpening your chain and flipping your bar. That'll keep the saw cutting straight with no problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to start Once you get this saw started it works great. Very hard to start, floods easy. If it sits for several days the pull rope will not pull. Acts like cylinder is seized. Keep pulling and bang it around for a while and it will finally pull. Takes 40 or so pulls before it fires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A homeowner"s dream chainsaw. This saw is a pleasure to operate and start. If I would let her, my 3 year old grandaughter could start this saw. No tools needed to either tighten the chain or replace it. Perfect saw for the novice, but operates like a pro.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk This saw is very hard to start if not sits more than a day between usage. It has less power than my old 023. And has been a big disappointment since I bought it.
